Coverage was acquired in 1995 in response to a version of the Critical Areas Ordinance that included volanic hazards as a critical area in Whatcom County. It shows those areas of Whatcom County that could be affected by debris, mud, blasting, and flooding if Mt. Baker were to erupt. The coverage was originally five separate coverages. The only editing that has been done was to combine the coverages into one volanic hazard coverage.
